A Tale of Two Very Long Walks

For those members not into extreme sports such as canyoning, white water rafting, suicidal mountain biking, parascending, or even plain old "interesting" soloing, there is still the oft forgotten art of putting one foot in front of the other and seeing where you end up!

Over this summer I have had two quite different walking experiences, the only real connection being their length.

The Statistics

Walk 1
Country: Slovenia
Distance: 30 miles
Ascent: 2000 metres
Time walking: 18 hours or so, spread over 2 days
Walk 2
Country: UK - Yorkshire - 3 peaks
Distance: 24 miles
Ascent: 1500 metres
Time walking: 10.5 hours in one day

Common Features

  • Very sore feet!
  • Excellent weather
  • Mission accomplished!
  • Good company and a good meal to end with.

So, I guess the moral is, if you like walking why not come and join us - it 's not all biking, canoeing, skiing, caving……….
